JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                   CLASSIFICATION – NON-EXEMPT

TELLER                                                                                      REPORTS TO HEAD TELLER



Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Performs several member service functions. Answers members' questions regarding credit union services provided and performs a variety of account maintenance. Performs specific side jobs, including various clerical and receptionist functions and assists other tellers with duties as required. Serves members promptly, courteously, and professionally.

  • Meet Service Standard Expectations
  • Teller Functions including: deposits, withdrawals, loan/VISA payments, money orders, cash advances, opening and renewing certificates and IRA’s, transfers and PerkPoints.
  • Assist members with bookkeeping and checking account problems
  • Cross sell credit union services
  • Daily balancing including replenishing drawer when needed
  • Answer telephone-when needed
  • Balance all teller checks and process
  • Keep work area clean and work put away
  • Add and balance money orders
  • Daily/weekly/monthly jobs assigned to you
  • Post night deposits by 9:30am
  • Answer questions from members or bring them to appropriate department
  • Process members coin thru coin machine
  • CU Universities done in a timely manner especially BSA, OFAC, policies and regulations
  • Back up member service
  • Attend Staff Meetings as scheduled

Work Environment

This is a professional environment and the position operates in the main office.


Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds is required.  Lifting of bulk supplies, equipment, etc. Occasional bending, squatting, twisting, reaching above and below shoulder level, and kneeling is required. Job requires approximately 4 – 6 hours of daily computer use - sitting approximately 20%, walking 5%, and standing 75% of the time.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday and at least 2 Saturdays a month.



This position requires occasional travel to the local branch. This role rarely travels out of the area overnight.



This position requires an equivalent to a high school degree


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Ability to communicate well with associates and members while maintaining confidentiality.  Ability to work with numbers accurately, do computer input, type, file, and answer the telephone.  Some previous exposure to handling cash and dealing with the public required, prior teller experience required. Experience with Fiserv Portico is preferred. Knowledge of the credit union philosophy.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
